Control Energy Costs provides businesses with tailor-made utility management and procurement solutions to ensure their customers secure the best possible price for their energy and water supplies.

Project overview

Scaramanga has been working with Control Energy Costs since 2019. Since September 2020, a key focus of the marketing activity has been the promotion of green – renewable – energy to their client base of business energy purchasers.

Control Energy Costs has long offered renewable energy contracts to its clients, who are increasingly demanding green energy to meet their own corporate commitments to sustainability as part of their ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) policies.

We completed the development of a green version of the brand, already proposed as part of the initial rebrand in 2019 and have been creating content for the website, client newsletter and social media. We have built a green hub on the website and on Earth Day 2021 (22nd April) we launched a green eBook and a net zero animated video.

The campaign begins

In September 2020, we kicked off the green campaign with the creation of a Green Hub on the website, bringing together all the green collateral created – articles, videos, and factsheets.

We also launched a content-driven social media marketing campaign, which is ongoing.

Over 300,000 social impressions

The social impressions are impressively up from 80,000 and there was over 42,000 social profile views (up from 10,000).

That has resulted in a doubling of annual value of new clients signed onto renewable energy contracts in the last 12 months and Scaramanga was shortlisted for the Business Green Leaders “Communications Agency of the Year” 2021.

For this campaign we developed a green version of the Control Energy Costs branding, that was used for all promotional material devised for the campaign.

We have also produced a number of animated videos including "climate change agreements" and the "journey to net zero", launched on Earth Day 2021, which you can view below.

CEC Guide to Green e Book

To coincide with the "journey to net zero" animated video, we also published a guide to green eBook the same day. This provides a thorough overview of:

  • The different types of green energy
  • Pitfalls to avoid
  • The difference between carbon neutral and net zero
  • The steps to starting your journey
